North Reading Police Officers along with officers from over 80 other departments traveled to Virginia to make 6 year old Nathan Norman's Christmas Special.
Nathan was diagnosed with brain cancer three years ago, and his only wish this holiday season was to receive cards, letters and patches from as many police officers, firefighters and EMTs as possible, because they are Nathan's heroes.
When local departments found out about Nathan's wish, they decided to deliver those items in person. The officers left on Wednesday and traveled by cruiser to Virginia to make a little boys Christmas wish come true. Officer Scott Tilton, Detective Paul Dorsey, Officer Jay Connolly and Lieutenant Mark Zimmerman from the NRPD made the trip.
The North Reading Police Survivors Fund made a donation to the family and the four NRPD officers who made the trip to Virginia presented Nathan with a plaque.
Frame One donated a complimentary framing service and framed the plaque for Nathan to display.
According to NRPD Lieutenant Mark Zimmerman, "The North Reading Police Survivors fund made a donation to the family and presented Nathan a plaque. It was a very humbling experience. The family stated they were surprised and overwhelmed by the support they received from all of the officers who made the 12 hour trip."
